A 55-year-old woman from Germany who wanted to cross Agia Irini gorge in Sougia lost her orientation and could not continue her journey.
According to our sources, just before 9 pm, the woman came in contact with the fire department.
A rescue operation with four firefighters and a vehicle headed directly to the area in order to trace her and carry her safely to the exit of the gorge.
The mission was completed successfully 5 hours later when the firefighters were able to find and transport her safely back to Chania.
