A group of six canoes had decided to go from Sougia to Paleochora, despite the bad weather and conditions.
Unfortunately, two persons, a man and a woman, could not handle those conditions, and lost their groups and way.
A large rescue plan was set up by the Coast Guard in order to find them. Involved in this operation was a 1 Coast Guard boat, 4 private boats and a helicopter of the Air Force.
Eventually, they were found by an owner of a private boat who participated in this rescue operation, and they were led to a safe place.
